Do You Care For Your Horses?

Do You Care For Your Horses?

There are many ways by which a horse health gets affected. The first and foremost thing is the lack of shelter and dirty water. Horses which live in fields are exposed to scorching sun, rain and germs. Some of the horses consume stagnant water that is available in ponds and ditches which are contaminated. So as a horse owner what are the protective measures you have to take to protect your horse?

Below are some of the safety measures to be taken in order to take a good care of your horse:

1) Horses which live in the barn must be checked twice daily. Provide them with proper food and water periodically. Groom your horse regularly (at least once in two day), because it helps to clean the skin and it prevents hair tangling. Dust and tangled hair decrease your horse capacity to keep itself warm and also leads to skin diseases.

2) Depending on the features of the pasture, your horse needs additional feeding. Offering mineral block for your horse in the barn provides a good resource of nutrients. If you find that your horse has lost some weight, then increase the amount of grain you supply to it. By increasing the amount of grain you provide, your horse gets more nutrition and will be healthy.

3) A horse living in the barn offers you low-maintenance and less time dedication compared to a stable horse. At the same time you must not neglect it because horses need a lot of care and protection. Monitoring your horse on a regular basis will keep your horse stay healthy and fit.

For a horse, proper foot care is as important as proper diet and sufficient exercise. A horse spends the majority of its time on its feet and is by nature, relentlessly on the move, even while grazing quietly. Unlike with some other animals, this regular movement is critical to the horse’s digestive systems.

Discover some proper ways to take care of your horse by providing the best you can. Your goal must be to have a healthy horse which will give you a long lasting enjoyment. Therefore with precautions training and treatments you will be pleased to have your own horse. Horses are a sort of animal which need a significance life just as much as any other creature. So only by proper care and guidance a horse can be healthy and fit.

That’s amazing! It always seem easier to draw on the computer then on paper. Really now, to color like that makes me curious, though everyone’s style of art is different.

If I didn't have a friend I'd trust, I'd look for a recommended house sitter. If you have a lot of experience with horses, start out giving people discounted rates. Do an EXCELLENT job and they will recommend you to their friends.

a "male" horse is not generally called a "male horse" they are called either gelding or stallions.

I would guess that maybe you haven't had much experience with horses..and think it would be best if you did alot of reading and talking to vets and horse trainers etc before you get a horse.
there is ALOT to taking care of a horse (money wise, and health wise) you need to be totally educated before you get one to prevent any bad things happening to your horse.

Why are you getting a wild pony if you aren't very experienced….. you are asking for trouble someone IS going to get hurt! A wild pony will more than likely be no fun for your kids it will inevitably dull their interest and ruin their confidence…
You should be getting a well trained schoolmaster as a first pony people are giving them away to good homes.

I think you should get some more advice before you make any commitments talk to your kids trainer and some local experienced horse owners. I'm sure they will be only top happy to give you some food for thought and they may even know a pony perfect for you.

If you are going to get a wild pony which I really don't recommend( I would think twice myself and I've been riding 18 years), you need to get a trainer to help you…

Yes, one of my uncles. My dog Chance would chase her like a crazy dog. But she never learned her lesson. She got two cuts on her leg had to be stapled kicked countless times, but never cared. We ended up giving her away becasue she was such a naughty puppy. BUt to me she was the best dog ever. My girl didnt care, she just stood there. What i wanted to do was wait for us to move to town and then when we moved Sandy back over put her in the pastuer with her. It would have been chicken wire so she couldnt have gotten out and it would have been perfact.

I saw something like that on postaroo where someone was asking for donations to buy Christmas presents. Maybe you could post something on postaroo asking for help.

Whenever I go away, I always pay one of my close friends to look after my two horses, or someone that agists at the same place as me that I know is very responsible and loves their own horses very much and is horse-wise.

Once I went away and let someone look after my horse who's daughter was in love with horses. I came back to find my pony with no food at all in her feed barrel, it was open in her paddock. Later on I found out that the girl got scared of my pony the day I went away, left everything and ran. So my pony ate it all right then and had no food for the rest of the week at all, and wasn't cared for, because my pony scared her by trotting up to her when she was holding the food.

So yeah, just to let you know, make sure someone you know and trust heaps looks after your horse, not just anyone.
